East Anglia Schools Trust is a charitable company limited by guarantee. Its precursor, Cliff Park Schools Trust Ltd., was formed ahead of the conversion to Academy status of Cliff Park Infant and Cliff Park Junior School on 1st April 2013. The Infant school sponsor the Junior school under the governance of the Multi-Academy Trust.
The Trust has its own Local Governing Body to which the Board of Directors delegate functions through a scheme of delegation. The members of the Local Governing Body are not governors (although they may be referred to as such) and are accountable to the Board of Directors who legally govern and manage both schools on behalf of the Trust. The Directors have three main roles:
- Governors (of the Academy Trust)
- Directors (of the Academy Trust as a company)
- Trustees (of the Academy Trust as a charity)
Their main responsibility is to provide strategic leadership for the Trust, including:-
- Setting a strategic plan for the Trust
- Ensuring accountability
- Setting the aims and policies of the Trust
- Appointing senior members of the staff, including the Executive Head Teacher
A word from Claire Blamey, Chair of the Board of Directors
"Educational philosopher Robert M Hutchins said ‘The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives’. How critical, then, are these early years of primary education, where learning the very building blocks of education starts. It is also where our students learn the social and personal skills that are critical for their future school career and beyond.
The Trust currently consists of two schools, Cliff Park Infant and Cliff Park Junior. As our strategy develops, we will be looking to expand to embrace other schools and perhaps nursery provision. The Directors and staff of the Trust are committed to providing the best possible education experience for the students in its schools, as well as developing and maintaining highly professional and outstanding teaching and support staff.
Please have a look around our website – there are links to the individual schools if you would like more information, and you are welcome to contact the Trust with any questions or comments”
